Yom Kippur
Yom Kippur (יום כיפור), also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest and most important Jewish holiday. It belongs to the so-called High Holidays and falls on the tenth day after the holiday of Rosh Hashanah, simultaneously concluding the ten days of repentance, during which a person's behavior is weighed on the scales and during which one should correct and atone for all their possible sins. It is a fasting holiday dedicated to prayers. According to tradition, on this day God forgave the people of Israel for making the golden calf, and on this day Abraham also circumcised himself as a sign of the covenant with God. It falls on the 10th day of the month of Tishrei, which is roughly September to October according to the Gregorian calendar.
