Jiří X. Doležal

JXD. It provokes, irritates and entertains

The study led Jiří X. Doležal, a native of Jindřichův Hradec, to study psychology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. The study was successful, because in 1988 he received the title of PhDr. And then? He quickly traded the work of a psychologist for the wild profession of publicist and photographer. Many will remember his texts published in the weekly Fórum, Zrcadlo magazine or articles written for Playboy magazine. After joining Reflex in 1991, he may have known that it would last here (even with its wild nature) for almost three decades. Soon after coming to the editorial office, he became the personification of the style and face of the magazine. He was not afraid to open up controversial topics in the magazine, which were swallowed up by free-thinking people of all ages, and conservatives fidgeted with their reading. Topic? Legalization of marijuana, the right to armament, crime, neo-Nazism, religious sects… Shocked and entertained with every article. He went on a hunger strike to support the construction of an American radar base, pretended to be a Buddhist monk, or demanded admission to the Klokánek Foundation disguised as a pubescent girl.

The first reality show

He tried to show this to his fans several times. For example, by allowing a video of his endoscopic bowel examination to circulate freely. At the beginning of the millennium, he agreed with colleagues Miloš Čermák and Jan Klusáček on the Nekoukat.cz project. And inspiration? A school experiment in drift near Tišnov, where he and his colleagues watched students voluntarily placed and all day filmed indoors. With this experience, he created a new format that many curious followers of his private website did not miss. It was at the time that he married the artist Ida Saudková, so there was no shortage of scandalous scenes. Such a training round, before the first reality shows appeared on the screens of commercial television stations. People like to watch the lives of others, he checked again when in 2008 he broadcast his second wedding live with psychologist Alex Hrouzková. They both had a wild nature that ripped through the waters of many magazines that interviewed them. But the marriage lasted only three years.

His passion

His passions are absolutely standard – sex, coffee and tobacco. It lives with three pythons and 11 Sternotherus odoratus. He collects and observes snails, because even as a disabled person, their speed is enough. He then creates installations and artifacts from those snails that are unsympathetic to him. He writes Japanese haiku poems, and reconstructs / creates / polishes Japanese swords. JXD is a small person, so he prefers to polish tantó (short sword). He doesn't dare for a long katana yet.
