Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534 -1572), Isaac ben Salomon Luria Ashkenazi, eas a leading figure in Judaism during the sixteens century. He gave new hope to the Jewish nationafter the tragic expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. Rabbi Luria did not write extensively, but as a mystic, he preached in the city of Safed. Some of the works of his disciples have been translated to English. Here, we present for the first time the poems of Rabbi Luria, which reflect the beauty of his spirit. These poems bear witness to the depth of the greatest Jewish mystic of modernity.

Josef Blaha was born on 1963 in Brno, Czech Republic. He is a lecturer in Jewish Studies at Charles University in Prague.
