This miniature silver Hanukiah is an exceptional example of Yemeni goldsmithing, brought by Jewish artisans from Yemen to the newly formed state of Israel after 1948. Made circa 1970, this Hanukiah is a testament to the preservation of ancient filigree techniques that have been passed down through generations in the Yemeni community for centuries. The compact tabletop design, with nine candlesticks placed in a row on an elegant base with cut-out feet, makes this piece both a practical and aesthetically pleasing object for celebrating the holiday of Hanukkah.

The entire Hanukiah is a masterpiece of filigree technique, with the individual chalice-shaped candlesticks formed from delicately twisted silver wires that form the characteristic spiral and circular patterns typical of the Yemenite style. Each candlestick is hand-finished with detailed ornamental motifs, with the shamash slightly raised above the other candlesticks. The base has a simple, functional design with a smooth surface and two curved legs to provide stability. The patina of the silver and the subtle darkening in the recesses of the filigree add authentic character to the chanukiya and highlight the handcrafted nature of this unique Israeli piece.
