This elegant silver Hanukiah is an excellent example of Viennese silversmithing from around 1920, dating from an era when Vienna was an important centre of Jewish culture and craftsmanship in Central Europe. The Hanukiah is made of high quality silver, as confirmed by the hallmarking, and bears the signature "JS", which refers to a specific goldsmith or workshop. The eight light-bearers for the Hanukkah candles are arranged in a classic symmetrical pattern, with the ninth light-bearer - the shamash (auxiliary candle) - elevated above the others, as is tradition. Design-wise, the Hanukiah reflects the aesthetics of the early 20th century with clean lines and functional yet decorative craftsmanship.

It is a compact but impressive piece of Judaica that combines religious significance with artistic value. The patina and wear on the silver indicate authenticity and probable use over generations, making this Hanukkiah not only a liturgical object but also a valuable historical artifact. Its Viennese origin and dating to the First Republic give it a special historical context - it is a pre-World War II item, which increases its collector and historical value.
