Afula Express (עפולה אקספרס) Comedy, Israel 1997

A comedic story reflecting Israeli harsh reality of constant threat tells about an unemployed car mechanic David from Afula, a small town in northern Israel, not far from Nazareth. David lives there with his girlfriend Batia, a full-figured woman with a beautiful smile. One day David has had enough and decides to leave for Tel Aviv and fulfill his childhood dream - to become a magician. This plan has only one catch: David is the least talented magician who ever lived. His clumsiness becomes the spark for various conflicts. David and Batia begin to discover the difference between dreams and reality, and their love goes through many trials. The director incorporated documentary material filmed in the streets of Tel Aviv into the film, which forms an organic part of her fictional narrative.
