An Israeli film drama from 2006 directed by Oded Davidoff. The film was made based on the same-titled globally successful novel written by renowned Israeli writer David Grossman. The story takes place in the remote and harsh streets of Jerusalem, where the fates of two lonely teenagers intersect: Asaf: A shy seventeen-year-old boy who has an unusual task during his summer job at the city council. He must run after a lost dog (a female dog named Dinka) and find her owner so he can issue him a fine. Tamar, a talented but quiet fifteen-year-old girl who has run away from home with her dog, ventures into the Jerusalem underworld and plays on the street to save her drug-addicted brother from the clutches of criminals. The dog leads Asaf across the entire city following Tamar's trail. Asaf gradually discovers her world, faces danger, and falls deeply in love with the girl he has never met in his life.
