An oil painting on cardboard by Romana Nejdlová will transport you to the atmosphere of 19th-century Prague's Josefov district. The dominant feature of the painting is the iconic Old New Synagogue with its characteristic crenellated roof adorned in brick color, and beside it the tower of the Jewish Town Hall with its clock. The warm ochre and earthy tones of the facades contrast with a dynamically conceived sky across which birds are chasing. The painter works with color with certainty and feeling – every brushstroke breathes with life.

In the foreground of the painting, small figures in period clothing stroll about – a man in a dark coat and women in colorful skirts – as if they had just stepped out of the pages of a novel from the streets of Josefov. The painting is set in an ornate gilded frame, which further enhances its historical character. The dimensions of the painting without frame are 20 × 30 cm, with frame 33 × 42 cm.
