Golda Meir (1898–1978) – the Iron Lady of Israeli politics and the first woman to lead the Israeli government. This extraordinary figure was born in Tsarist Russia, grew up in America, and at the age of 23 moved to Mandatory Palestine, where she began her journey from working on a kibbutz to the pinnacle of political power.

Foreign Minister, diplomat, visionary – after the establishment of Israel, she held key positions: envoy to the USSR, Minister of Labor, and for ten years Minister of Foreign Affairs. She supported unlimited Jewish immigration and negotiated the first purchase of American weapons for Israel.

Prime Minister in turbulent times – from 1969 to 1974, she led Israel as Prime Minister during the War of Attrition, the Munich massacre of Israeli athletes, and the Yom Kippur War in 1973. Her courage and determination earned her the nickname "Iron Lady."

David Ben-Gurion said of her: "The only man in the cabinet."

A mug for those who admire strong women who changed history
